The AMC – Metropolitan Landfill Center in Salvador, Brazil, earns a 4.3-star rating for its waste treatment, biogas processing, and clean energy production.
While not visually appealing, it transforms waste leachate into clean energy.
It serves Salvador, Lauro de Freitas, and Simões Filho, and is considered a reference in the Northeast for sanitary landfills and sustainability.
Some note the lack of wheelchair accessibility.

The landfill is not an attractive place, but I think people should ask themselves what it is like and how it works. There is no recycling of waste here, but the leachate extracted naturally from the waste is transformed into clean energy.

The work done there is incredible despite it being trash, but the end result is clean energy.
