Excellent council initiative. Friendly, helpful staff.
Correction. Just informed that it is a privately owned company. Well my point remains. Excellent facility and friendly staff. Thank you.

They tell me their manufacturing process exceeds the Australian Standard, and I'd believe it. They heat treat their compost and mulch for more than the 2 weeks encouraged by the standard. And it shows. I added a cubic meter of their soil to a garden bed at my own place a bit over a month ago. So far, no new weeds have germinated in the area. This is alot more than I can say for any other landscape supplier in Bundaberg, as I've seen nutgrass come up from other commercial soils within weeks. I've also seen gardens of new builds overrun with Madeira Vine within months (and anyone who knows the trade will tell you what a problem that stuff is).
Given all the shit they'd get dumped in their garden waste, its amazing how effective their heat treatments are.
Aside from the fact their soil is actually clean, I can tell just from looking at it that its a rich product. They tell me its a blend of their compost, composted manure, and sand. And boy is it rich in hummus (and presumably nutrients). Its got a real dark colour to it (its literally black soil), and from the look of it, its texture borders between a silt loam and a clay (its particles are really fine, and I could feel the weight of the water in it after buying it following a rain event). I could have performed tests on it to be sure, but I could tell from looking at and feeling it that it is a rich soil.
Some people might complain about the price point as compared to other landscape suppliers, but in the long run Green Solutions is a better investment. The weeds I've seen popping up out of other soils are really difficult to control; Nutgrass requires residual herbicides, and vines are a downright pain to poison. Plus the old saying "1 years seeds equal 7 years weeds," is very generous, I've been seeing weeds come up around town recently that have been dormant for 10-20 years. Paying a little extra per cubic meter is a far better investment than the endless time and labour involved in treating weed infestations.
5/5 stars. Best product on the market by a long shot.
