Shepard Landfill and Eco Centre receives mostly positive reviews for its friendly, helpful staff, organized site, and easy disposal process.
Some users have noted issues with the "no commercial vehicles" policy and changes to tire drop-off limits.
The facility is generally clean, and some reviewers were impressed with the efficient "Throw and Go" area, which contributes to the overall positive experience of the friendly staff.

The staff at the landfill are the friendliest and most helpful staff we have seen at any business. If you are having a bad day, they will make you smile!

First time there. THe girl at the gate was very helpful and friendly. That continued on to the worker who helped us sort what we needed to move to other areas and he helped us carry it there. Everyone there had a smile on their faces. When we left we complimented another girl at the gate of the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Organized, clean, amazing staff.

The "no commercial vehicles" policy is not clearly posted, has conflicting information on the website, and is complete nonsense in how they are determining what is a commercial vehicle. A sticker on a window does NOT make something a commercial vehicle.
I loaded up my mattress this morning to drop it off at the eco center at Shepherd before work. I noticed on one page of the website it said no commercial vehicles, but on the eco center page it said industrial waste is fine. I called 311 to confirm it wouldn't be a problem and they said I'd be fine, I'm dropping off my mattress and my work truck is not a commercial vehicle.
I get to Shepherd and they tell me I can't use their eco center because my truck has a company sticker on the rear window. It's a gmc canyon, it's not a commercial vehicle, I have no log book or commercial registration, and it's extremely clear I'm dropping off a mattress not waste from work.
Now I'm forced to go 20 mins up the road to the east landfill and I'm now 50 mins late for work. There was zero issues at the east landfill and I just went to the eco center exactly like I would have at Shepherd.
This policy is absolute nonsense in how it's enforced and advertised.

I had the pleasure of volunteering for my son's school field trip to Shepard Landfill today, and I have to say—Clayton made it an unforgettable experience! What could have been a simple educational tour turned into an exciting adventure, all thanks to his incredible storytelling and engaging way of explaining things.
Clayton went above and beyond, bringing every detail to life with imaginative narratives that made learning fun and exciting. There wasn’t a single dull moment—every minute was filled with curiosity, and even I found myself eager to see what would happen next! The students were completely engaged, asking tons of questions, and Clayton answered each one with enthusiasm and expertise.
His energy, knowledge, and passion for his work truly made this trip outstanding. I never expected a landfill tour to be this interesting, but Clayton made it one of the best field trips I’ve ever been on. Huge thanks for an amazing experience! Highly recommend!
