MUSA – Museu Da Amazônia

Absolutely amazing natural museum that let's you feel like you are in the middle of the jungle and learn about the flora and fauna of the region 🌿

Nice little museum about the rainforest and its plants and animals. We think it is a bit diffcult for non portuguese speaking people, as most of the explanations are not in english but protuguese only. Also it was a bit sad, that the museum tells mostly about positive facts but misses to inform about deforestation and the environmental destruction in the amazonia area, that you can clearly see around Manaus.

The place has potential but struggles with its identity. It tries to be a museum, a zoo,a botanical garden and a nature preserve all at once, but does not succeed properly or excel at either one. My suggestion is to build a proper museum and open the other trails to be visited without guides but marking them well with signs.

The animals are scarce (just a few fish, the snakes and spiders were largely hiding, and the butterfly section was closed), the museum and the botanical garden too small to be of significant value, while the nature reserve has one trail accessible to all while the others, more interesting ones, are only accessible with guides.

Do not expect as much as the website offers. The observation tower is quite nice but the other attractions are not really worth it.

When I visited the aquarium and serpentarium were closed, and they had not announced it on the website nor when I bought the ticket. Misleading.

The park's infrastructure is clearly not prepared for rainfall. Which to me seems essential for a park in the middle of the rainforest. Trails were closed. I guess the park is better on a sunny day.

All in all I would recommend going. Just lower your expectations and focus on the cool tower. I would give a big thumbs down for the organization of the park for not being transparent of attractions being open or not from the beginning. Unfair and unsympathetic.

It was nice, put good shoes on. Maybe 2-3 hours is good for a walk and see muss. Unfortunately There is no English introduction in Musa.
