Mercado Central de Fortaleza is a multi-level covered market with local leather goods, textiles, jewelry, and souvenirs.

You can find handicrafts, party favors, chestnuts, shoes, clothes, and food. Some reviewers mention aggressive salespeople and a hot environment, but also good deals, especially on upper floors.

It’s recommended to speak some Portuguese or Spanish. Watch your belongings and be aware of the surroundings. A juice stand is located on the ground floor, which can be a good spot to take a break and enjoy some refreshments, considering the hot environment.

For all the gringos. Great spot to check out local confection/embroidery, super cheap. Also nuts like Brazil nut and cashews. Definitely worth the trip.

Very nice for buying local products and handicraft on a nice price. Though I would definitely recommend speaking at least a bit of Spanish/Portuguese. It didn't seem like English was an option.

I would also recommend the juice stand on the ground floor as they have juice from several local fruits.

variety but extremely hot place to visit. Barely any of the fans works and the it also feels a bit dangerous as some of the metal bridges are worn and with holes.

This is the place to get your souvenirs, don't shop on the beach as you're going to be taxed. I walked aeay with 4 decorated bottles of alchohol, 6 purses, 2 shirts, 10 bags of brazilian flavored nuts, 6 sweet bars, and a couple other things fir only $72 US.
