A place with many restaurants and souvenir shops. At night, there are good bars with good food and cold beer. It's worth it!!

It's worth visiting, checking out and buying local crafts, having a cold beer at Bar dos Artistas and listening to a local artist play their good music.

The Municipal Market in the city of Goiás (Goiás Velho) is one of the most iconic and nostalgic places in the region. Built in the 19th century, the place is a true historical heritage site, full of culture and traditions that hark back to times gone by. Its rustic charm, with its well-preserved colonial architecture, transports visitors to a time when simplicity and community connection were the center of daily life. The market is known for its welcoming atmosphere and for being a meeting point for locals and tourists. There, you can find a variety of typical products, such as local handicrafts, sweets made from cerrado fruits, spices and traditional snacks. Not to mention my favorite cake, rice cake, which is simply delicious. In addition, there is always warm conversation, shared stories and a more relaxed pace of life that contrasts with the rush of modern cities. Nostalgia is present not only in the products and architecture, but also in the smell of fresh coffee, the sound of lively conversations and the memories of Goian traditions that are still alive. Visiting the Goiás Municipal Market is an experience that awakens memories, connecting the past to the present in a unique way. It is a space that celebrates the cultural and historical identity of the city, and is essential for those who want to delve deeper into the soul of the region.

We went on 02/01/25 to have a snack and get to know the place. A historic space with a 1920s ambiance, with shops and snack bars/restaurants with good food and drink options. And we ate the much talked about rice cake from Dona Inês, a good mix of queijadinha and bombocado from São Paulo. Very tasty. We also had the Goiano pie in a clay mold and it was very tasty! Architecture with archaeological and cultural history of the city of Goiás. It is worth visiting without great expectations because the city is small, with its own customs and history.
