Nice weekend market to visit if you are in Hobart.

It’s busy but organised - there are enough bins for the wastes and I like that all the bins come with sorting guidelines.

The oysters are fresh and good value - $32 for a dozen. The vendor provides vinegar and tabasco also on the side.

The tart stand has beautiful Portuguese tart, not cheap but is a lovely desert to finish your visit.

The bisque from Kray Kray is a wonderful choice if you need something warm in a autumn morning.

We also purchased a little pendant from Forest Adorned. She makes silver/bronze jewelries inspired by local leaves, which we think is a great and beautiful idea.

The vibe is nice and lots of variety of the booth, from nice food to grocery. You can also find the local souvenir here with made in Tasmania. There are products from local designer also. Must go when you visit Hobart

We had an amazing time visiting Salamanca Market in December 2024. The market is huge, with an incredible variety of stalls showcasing local products, crafts, and delicious food.

It was bustling with visitors, creating a lively and vibrant atmosphere. The market had a fantastic selection of local farmers and crafters, making it the perfect place to discover authentic, handmade items and fresh produce - Tasmania fruits and honey.

The atmosphere was also beautiful, with the historic backdrop of Salamanca Place adding a charming touch to the experience.

Highly recommended!

Great market, however, too busy for my liking. I found the best time to visit was an hour or two before closing. Not sure if pricing is a little expensive given tourist orientation. I won't be back but would tell others to visit.

One of the best markets I've been to, especially in Australia. There's no cheap quality rubbish here... everything is of a high standard and probably produced by a local artisan or someone who is a specialist in their craft with a real passion for what they do. Allow about 3 hours to go through at a leisurely pace. So much wonderful food here as well, (Just try not to go on to same day as a cruise trip is visiting Hobart. It really does spoil it a bit).
