This nursery is a gem!! The staff are friendly, helpful & very knowledgeable. Our native garden is thriving thanks to their guidance for planting & plant care. Have been back & as we are gradually filling our garden with water saving, bird attracting natives will be returning again. Very happy😊

Honestly, I don't think I would have gotten the level of service I received at this nursery this morning anywhere else. I want to plant out a native section in the garden, but don't know one plant from another! As a result, 'Red' guided me around the nursery making suggestions, explaining each in terms of height/width, flowering, etc. Then he helped me choose the right ones for the amount of space I have. Then we sat down with the planned area and placed each plant (on paper) where it would be best planted (height, colour, etc). I could not have done this on my own. Now I have my plan, I can start planting with confidence. Thank you so much for your time, advice, guidance and enthusiam this morning. I really appreciated it. So.....if you need natives then definitely go here 😃💗

Every time I’m in Perth, I make a beeline for the Australian Native Nursery, and today was no exception! These Banksias were on my hit list, and I couldn’t leave without them:

Banksia burdettii – A stunning species from WA’s sandplains, known for its striking orange and cream flower spikes.

Banksia caleyi – A rare gem from the Stirling Ranges, with deep red inflorescences and uniquely serrated leaves.

Banksia lindleyana – A sandplain and dune specialist with long, elegant flower spikes and an intricate growth habit.

Banksia grossa – A kwongan scrubland beauty with dense, cylindrical flower heads and tough, narrow leaves.

Banksia rosserae – A true collector’s find! This elusive species from WA’s arid zone was only formally described in 2002.

To help with germination, I also picked up a bottle of Smoke on Water by Professor Kingsley Dixon. Some Banksia seeds detect karrikinolides, chemicals in smoke that trigger germination, mimicking the conditions of a post-fire landscape. Looking forward to seeing how it helps!

Huge thanks to Australian Native Nursery for their incredible range of species—always worth the trip! Adding a pic of the bottle I got in the comments.

Such a fantastic nursery with a brilliant range of hardy natives. I've always been given excellent advice here and they've helped me match my soil type/area I live with plants that will grow well.
